Getting Started

Beginning therapy can feel like a big decision, and we’re here to make the process as simple and comfortable as possible. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or someone you care for, we’ll guide you through each step.

Step 1: Reach Out

You don’t need a referral or to speak to your GP first. You can just contact us directly via phone, email, or our online enquiry form. If you already have a GP referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan, you’re welcome to share that with us, but it’s not required to get started.

Step 2: Let’s Find the Right Fit

We’ll ask a few questions about what you’re looking for, your availability, and any preferences you may have, such as session format (in-person, telehealth, or outdoor), or practitioner gender. From there, we’ll suggest a therapist we believe will be a good match.

Step 3: Book Your First Appointment

Once we’ve found the right practitioner, we’ll arrange your first session and send through all the information you need ahead of time. We’ll also walk you through payment options, rebates, and what to expect in your first session.

Step 4: Begin Your Therapy Journey

Your first appointment is a chance to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and begin building a therapeutic relationship. We’ll work with you at your pace, and adjust the approach as needed along the way.

Have questions or feeling unsure?
That’s completely normal. We’re happy to chat and help you decide if Capaz Health is the right fit for you.

MAPS, FCCLP
Certified in Applied Neuroscience

Capaz Health was founded by a clinical psychologist, Sarah Shuter, with nearly 15 years of experience, driven by a passion for integrating the therapeutic benefits of nature into traditional psychological therapies.

After years of working in various settings, including headspace, women’s and youth refuges, and private practice, Sarah embarked on a journey that reshaped her perspective on mental health care. This journey, enriched by personal experiences and professional insights, led to the creation of Capaz—a place where therapy transcends conventional boundaries to embrace the healing power of the natural environment.

Sarah's approach is a combination of CBT, mindfulness, neuropsychotherapy, movement therapy, play and psychoneuroimmunology.

Capaz focuses on utilising neuroscience principles and psychoneuroimmunology principles (emotional states affect our physical health and well-being), thus focusing on the mind-body connection.
